—Information accurate as of: 1100.98 Update
The Salvaged Icepick is a melee weapon/tool in Experimental Rust. It is the best tool for gathering stone and ores, combining the Stone Pick Axe's mining speed[1] with the Pick Axe's efficiency, and has more range than that of the Hatchet. It is very expensive to craft however. The Salvaged Icepick has a slow swing speed, about that of the Rock, but makes up for that by mining more minerals with each strike.[1] It gathers very slightly less minerals from each Node than the Pick Axe (about 30% more than the Stone Pick Axe), but completes the job even faster than the Stone Pick Axe (14 seconds to Stone Pick Axe's 22.67 seconds, to Pick Axe's 27.4 seconds).[1] This gives it a 2.1 times greater yield over time than the Stone Pick Axe, not including the amount of time running between nodes.
The Salvaged Icepick is the more expensive, high-end option for stone-gathering. The durability was increased with the Component system update, making it the number one stone/ore gathering tool.
