Safe Zones are world-generated locations, in which players are safe from attack. They are denoted by the 'Safe Zone' marker that appears just above the health indicator when players enter them. These areas are filled with peacekeeping turrets and NPC’s. Attacking anything within its borders will result in the turrets and NPCs marking the attacker as hostile for 5 minutes. They will fire upon the target any time they enter range, but will not chase them. When entering the safe zone's borders with a weapon or lethal tool drawn, a message will appear giving the player 5 seconds warning to put away the weapon. Safe zones will actually prevent players from drawing weapons while inside its borders. Players are also prevented from looting bodies that aren't their own or taking others' items.
Safe zones are usually stocked with Vending Machines, Quest NPCs, Recyclers, sitting areas, and various other tools like Refineries, Research Tables, or Repair Benches.
